Sox Recap: White Sox Defeat Indians 2-1 on Wednesday

CLEVELAND, OH – The White Sox and the Indians resumed their three game set this evening after the Indians outlasted the White Sox in what turned into a surprising pitchers duel on Tuesday afternoon at Progressive Field in Cleveland.

The White Sox sent Derek Holland to the mound for his second start of the season to match-up with Cleveland’s Danny Salazar in game two of the series.

The White Sox jumped out to an early lead on Wednesday evening when Matt Davidson laced a line-drive single into left field, scoring Cody Asche and Avisail Garcia, giving the White Sox an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. The two-RBI single was the fourth and fifth RBI of the season for Davidson, who has had a tremendous start to the 2017 campaign in limited opportunities thus far.

Derek Holland would turn in a quality start for the White Sox, tossing 6.0 innings of scoreless work, allowing only only one hit while striking out four and walking four over the course of his outing.

The Indians would strike for one run in the bottom of the eighth inning when Michael Brantley scored Carlos Santana on a fielders choice against Nate Jones, making the score 2-1 White Sox.

David Robertson closed the ninth inning out for the White Sox, giving them a 2-1 win, and evening the series up at one-a-piece.
