Bears Add Another New Weapon, Sign Taylor Gabriel

Ryan Pace has stolen the show this free agency, and he earlier today he picked up a second great wide receiver in Taylor Gabriel. Gabriel may seem like a small signing for Chicago (no pun intended,) but he is an underrated player that Bears fans should get excited about.

Gabriel didn’t have a great season for the Falcons, as he had 33 catches for 378 yards and just one touchdown. 2016 is where he earned this deal, as he had 35 catches for 579 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns. Why did his stats fall? I believe the whole Falcons team came back down to Earth, but I still think that Gabriel has plenty to give us.

In fact, Gabriel is a perfect fit for the Matt Nagy system. With all the short and quick plays that the system will have, he will be able to flourish when he is in open space. Chicago will most likely place him in the slot, where we can put him on some quick screens and other short routes, allowing him to run around linebackers or force the other team to put an extra cornerback on him. He will be playing a Tyreek Hill-type role for Chicago, so Gabriel will also be used as a deep threat when trying to spread the field.

After a slew of great deals that Ryan Pace made today, he adds another to the list with this move. I expect Gabriel to have found a home in Chicago, and I think Bears fans should be very excited about this signing.

2005 Super Bowl was a sad day I broke up with live in girlfriend day before then bears got beat down. I was only 6 years old in 1985 living in Chicago my dad came home with bears jackets, hats, buttons, and them triangle pendants you hang on wall.

I’m not sold on Robinson but I love this signing of Gabriel. Put him in slot to throw deep. Not sure that TE they just signed, I thought we drafted baby Gronk?

  3. Never left but like many of us, my heart was barely pumping until this off-season’s developments. My pulse is strong now! Wind in our sails and not swimmming upstream it appears! Hibernation period ends, NOW!
