Chicago Bears Re-sign Eddie Goldman

The Bears locked up another piece of their core Friday, signing Eddie Goldman to a four year extension. Dan DeYoung has the story.

It was announced today that the Chicago Bears have reached a contract extension with nose tackle Eddie Goldman. The deal is announced as a 4-year extension worth 42 million dollars with 25 million guaranteed, making him signed through 2022.

Eddie has been very productive in his time in a Chicago Bears uniform. The former second-round pick out of Florida State in the 2015 NFL Draft has started 32 games for the Chicago Bears, amassing 84 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and 10 tackles for loss.

This is exciting news for the Chicago Bears, and the front office must be thrilled to have him locked down. General Manager Ryan Pace said that “This is a key extension for the future of the Bears and an anchor for our defense.”

Goldman is a huge part of this defense, even though he really does not get as much recognition as some others. He often opens things up for his teammates, making him crucial to the success of the defense.

The Chicago Bears now have most of their core defense set in long-term deals. The big defensive player who is set to be a free agent this upcoming offseason is safety Adrian Amos. Look for him to be the next Chicago Bear to get his payday.
