The Blackhawks Are Fun Again, And Have Sucked Me Back In

Five in a row. That’s 10 points in their last five games. Wild Card spot within reach, easy upcoming schedule. The Chicago Blackhawks may be back.

Five in a row. That’s 10 points in their last five games. Wild Card spot within reach, easy upcoming schedule.

The Chicago Blackhawks may be back, folks, and I’m here for it.

Listen, I’m sick of hearing the “tank for Hughes and the Blackhawks would be better off missing the playoffs.” Yea, no. I’m riding with Kane, Toews, Kieth and maybe Seabrook in the playoffs anytime, anywhere.

Plus, the city of Chicago NEEDS playoff hockey, especially after what Cody Parkey did to us (please come home, Robbie). Give me a chance to go to United Center in the middle of April, give Kane and Toews a chance to do what they do best – win when it matters most.

The Blackhawks were down 2-1 entering the third period against the Oilers, a team the Blackhawks were chasing in standings. After outshooting the Oilers 13-2 in the first 14 minutes of the third period, the Hawks built a 6-2 lead. They say scoring happens in bunches, and boy was that true on Tuesday night.

Patrick Kane also extended his point streak to 12 games, his longest of the season. He has 27 points in 11 games. If the Hawks find a way to make the playoffs, Kane deserves the Hart Trophy. Who else would deserve it more?

I’ll wait.

I may owe Jeremy Colliton an apologize. After Coach Q was fired I was very critical of Bowman and the Colliton promotion. Make no mistake about it, if Colliton was the head coach to start the season, the Hawks may already hold a playoff spot right now.

It took him about a month to change things, but Colliton deserves a ton of credit for the Hawks’ turnaround. Hell, the power-play is the best it’s ever been, Cam Ward has won three in a row, Dylan Strome is a new player, and most importantly, the Hawks are winning hockey games.

Hopefully, this streak can get to six. 12 straight points would be huge. Don’t look now, but the Hawks are just THREE points out of a Wild Card spot.

I’ll leave you with this stat, thanks, Pat Foley.

When their opponent scores 2 or less, hawks are 12-0-2.

PS-Had Blackhawks money-line tonight, will not stop betting them until they lose.

Let’s ride.

I enjoy wathcing 19, 88, 2, 7 play but I feel they should hold off and get a high pick. Next year if Bowman is smarter than he has been the last 10 years with trades , free agent signings and drafting, the retool is simple. Go after a forward like Panarin, Stone or Skinner. Add either Karlsson or Myers on defence.
Draft a winger in top 5, make sure you trade to draft goalie phenom Spencer Knight because Bowman missed Carter Hart.

They should be sellers, especially if teams would be willing to add any of the veterans. But purposely losing games is not going to happen.

  2. I agree with Alfonso, think we should be sellers at deadline, try ship saad, anisimov, Kruger. Personally this team won’t go deep if they make playoffs, so in reality if you can get aging stars, crow, seabs or Duncan I would trade then, no more signing old useless clowns Kunitz was dumb. I do feel bowman is part of problem not solution going forward, Q needed to go the season prior, seemed group just wasnt responding having said that Bowman’s signings and trades didn’t help Q, seemed like Q was setup for failure, trading panarin and hammer was just plain reckless, not mention the young studs shipped out and #1 pics traded away, long time Hawk fans know Bowman didn’t build the dynasty, he inherited it. He’s not a good GM. Anyone who thinks he is can thank him for cap he’ll this team has been in and all the NMC contracts.
