The Chicago Bulls finally struck a deal worth mentioning. Otto Porter is headed to Chicago in a deal that sends Jabari Parker, Bobby Portis, and a 2023 second-round pick to Washington as reported by Shams Charania.

Now, what this deal means is that the Bulls wisely realized that their appeal to free agents in 2019 is horrible and wisely gave up those pipe dreams, then went on to get a player that can contribute for years to come.
Otto Porter is having a down year and is owed $56 million dollars over the next two years. He averages 12.6 points and 5.6 rebounds.
It’s still a great move.
He’s a perfect 3 and D guy, and a few years ago it would have taken multiple assets to retrieve a player of his caliber. The Bulls just filled a glaring hole that needed fixing for years. He’s shooting 45 percent from the field and 37 percent from three. His presence on the court will hide LaVine’s defensive deficiencies and add a three-point threat to the Bulls without requiring major usage.
Excellent move from Gar/Pax.
They ultimately did sacrifice their huge free agency plans, but realistically no free agent was going to come to Chicago and it would have been a waste of an off-season
Otto Porter was awkwardly told while he was at shooting around preparing for an ESPN game with the Wizards 20 minutes before the game.
The Bulls did have to part ways with fan favorite Bobby Portis. Portis came into this season without agreeing on a contract with Chicago and was pressed to display that he deserves more money. He spent more than half this year injured and created a log-jam of minutes with Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter, and Robin Lopez, oh yeah, and Jabari (when he played).
I love Portis, his passion and competitiveness is unmatched. With that being said, I’m glad that Chicago isn’t paying him the big bucks and they addressed a more important need.
It’s still going to be hard to say goodbye to Portis. Farwell Crazy Eyes.
Jabari Parker was a failed experiment and really has no tragic loss to any Bulls fans. In the past month he was only featured in about four games, so his presence will not be missed.
What this means for the Wizards is that they have given up and may be entering a rebuild as well. Their All-Star, John Wall tore his Achilles Tuesday morning, which basically sealed their fate and he will be missing all of the 2019-2020 season. It was a huge cap dump for Washington as they are trying to clear up space and be able to start this whole thing over with Beal as their leader.
Chicago is relying solely on the NBA draft this year to change the fortune of their franchise and their seeding has them in great draft position.
This was a great move and a step in the right direction for the Chicago Bulls. Otto Porter is a talented young player and this trade may bode well for him and Chicago.
