How good is the NBA offseason?
It’s the best, probably better than the regular season to be honest. Anyway, here we are. Paul George and Kwahi Leonard are headed to the Clippers, while the Lakers have LBJ and Anthony Davis.
As predicted, Russell Westbrook and his agent have already contacted the Thunder’s GM Sam Presti about the next steps and eventually, a trade.
ESPN Sources: Russell Westbrook and his agent Thad Foucher are engaged with OKC GM Sam Presti on next steps for the All-Star guard, including the possibility of trade this summer. https://t.co/S69nu8Phqd

Westbrook is going to get traded…the only question is where? I and many other Bulls’ fans have already made it known that we want the Bulls to do whatever they can to trade for Westbrook. There have also been fans who wanted nothing to do with a trade for the superstar PG, which is foolish.
How do you win in the NBA?
By having stars. No matter what you think of Russ, he is a star in the NBA. Guess what having a star brings? More stars! Easy, right? You would think that’s easy logic to understand, but Bulls’ fans are still having a hard time parting with trading players like Otto Porter, Wendell Carter, and Zach LaVine… STOP IT.
No joke, I love LaVine but STOP IT.
The only way to win and be relevant in the NBA is by having a star. Those people who say otherwise are only kidding themselves. When you rebuild you acquire as many assets as possible…why? Because when the time comes when a star surprisingly wants to be moved (like Russ right freaking now) guess what? Then you have what it takes to get that star. You worry about the other stuff later.
Would you want the #Bulls to try and acquire Russell Westbrook? Comment with some trade packages 🏀

Core pieces don’t matter. Go get a star.
Let’s check out some possible trade packages from some of the best Chicago sports follows on Twitter.
Ross Read: @RossRead
#Bulls should send Otto Porter Jr., Kris Dunn, Denzel Valentine and two unprotected first round picks to OKC for Russell Westbrook.
Deal or no deal?
— Ross Read (@RossRead) July 6, 2019
This would be the most ideal trade for the Bulls. Don’t have to part ways with anyone from the “core” and you get a star. Win-win. You also get rid of Dunn and Valentine, so yeah, there should be absolutely no push back from anyone on this proposed deal.
Those two unprotected first rounders will just turn into the No. 7 overall pick for the Bulls in 2020 and 2021 anyway, so who cares.
James Fox: @JamesFox917
LaVine, Carter, and picks for Westbrook
As I mentioned above, I love LaVine, but he’s not winning you a championship by himself. If you have to part ways with him to get a star in a weak Eastern Conference so be it. There were rumors of the Bulls not being too high on Carter, so moving him makes plenty of sense. Free agent bigs aren’t hard to find. Maybe, OKC would be nice a throw Adams into the deal?
Gar/Pax aren’t that smart, but Fox’s trade proposal shows you how you can get a star and the best PG in Bulls’ history. You also still have White, Lauri and others on the roster. Something to think about Carter and LaVine or Russ?
That’s an easy answer for me.
Alex Bruce (great follow, eh? Good proposal though): @Alexthesav_
white, dunn, porter and all the picks okc wants and we’ll just play with russ, lavine, lauri and carter
— Squirrely Dan (@Alexthesav_) July 6, 2019
This is another solid proposal from a questionable character. No seriously, this man jumped off a garage roof into a pool last weekend and nearly killed himself doing it. Let’s get back on track. Moving Porter and Dunn would have to almost happen in any trade with OKC.
Having a core of Russ, LaVine, Lauri, and Carter would be pretty awesome in a not so good Eastern Conference. Yea, sign me up. Looks like little Bruce has been playing a lot of 2K.
We would have to move Porter and Felicio to make it work, i’d trade White, Porter, Felicio & an unprotected 1st if needed
— Snyder (@SnyderMan_) July 6, 2019
Again, we have Porter being moved and if we’re being totally honest I forgot about Felicio. So yea, fuck. We would have to move him too. Snyder is kind of being cheap on the 1st rounders, but another decent offer here.
If we have Russ, is there room for White? Probs not. So move his ass!
TRADE WHOEVER IT DOESN’T MATTER
Pretty simple, eh? I don’t care who you have to trade or what picks you have to give up, and I don’t care if people like Russ or not, he’s a star and helps you win basketball games and be a relevant franchise again. Do whatever it takes. Mortgage the future.
As my good friend Rick Hahn would say, don’t be “mired in mediocrity.”
First off, what a quote. Second, that’s exactly what the Bulls would be doing if they fail to land one or two stars during this rebuild.
Go get Russ.
What Will Actually Happen
I’m no idiot, Gar/Pax probably won’t try and get Russ. No, they’ll stand pat like they always do and build a healthy sixth seed. Did I mention the East was wide open? Once or twice, maybe? Got it, well it is and the Bulls could, to quote my great friends at PMT, “make some noise.”
What I see happening is either the Knicks or Heat landing Russ. While I want to believe the Bulls will be involved, they probably won’t be. I can see Russ heading down to Miami to pair with Jimmy Butler or getting moved to New York.
Who knows, but it’s going to be an interesting finish to the NBA offseason and summer.
