It’s almost time to officially welcome back fantasy football season!

Now that The Chalk is officially back on The Loop Sports we will be rolling out a ton of content before and during the NFL season. That starts today with my July rankings of RBs. You will find seven tiers. Why seven? It’s my favorite number that I’m convinced is lucky.

At the end of the rankings, you will also find “quick notes” on why certain players are where they are and sleepers I have I’m targeting. Keep in mind I’m not a huge numbers guy, but that doesn’t mean I don’t utilize them.

The eye test is much more important to me, along with my gut feeling. I am the most comfortable making decisions when using those two things. Make sure you also subscribe to our podcast as well. There will be a lot of exclusive content on there.

Quick Notes

-That’s right Barkley isn’t my No. 1, 2 or even 3. He’s the fourth best RB in my rankings for July. Why? Well, he’s literally the only true weapon the Giants have on offense. Teams are going to make Eli throw the ball and that’s….pretty awful.

-Stop sleeping on David Johnson. The guy has a head coach that is going to get him touches and put him in good positions. Bold prediction: he finishes as a top 5 RB in 2019. I guess that’s not too bold, but I feel like many believe his best days are behind, which is foolish.

-Darrell Henderson is going to be a big factor for the Rams this season. Gurley will be on a snap/ussage count, meaning Henderson was drafted for a reason. Let’s not forget the Rams traded up to get this guy. He’s one of my highest owned players in Best Ball.

-If Devonta Freeman can stay healthy (which is a HUGE if), he’s going to see a lot of ussage and volume with Tevin Coleman off the roster. Let’s not forget a few years ago Freeman put up monster fantasy numbers when the Falcons went on to play in the Super Bowl. If you take Freeman it’s not a bad idea to snag Ito Smith as insurance.

-With Melvin Gordon holding out for a new contract, it’s Austin Ekeler SZN! He’s going to catch the football and score goaline TDs. What more could you want in a player. Let’s keep a close eye on this Gordon news, but Ekeler is a solid choice either way.
